Work began on 18 April 1952. 2. Eleven (11) change orders were issued by Public Buildings Service to basic contract, totalling approximately $11,000. Each of these change orders involved extensions of time in the contract. The attic of South Building was completed in September 1952 and occupied during that month. Prior to the completion of the contract, the utiliza- tion of five (5) different rooms in North Building was changed which required extensive alterations costing approximately $5,600. 4, From 1 December 1952 to 30 April 1953, 180 new items were requested. Of this number approximately 50% have been completed. Commitments exist from Public Buildings Service that they will complete the work as required. S. Frequently during the progress of the work PBS craftsmen were not permitted in some areas to accomplish their work because of classified activities in certain of the rooms. It is not always possible to get Public Buildings Service personnel on scheduled dates and the fact that TSS work must go on, the constant interruptions have made it extremely difficult for PBS to complete many of the items. 6. Discussion with on Friday, 22 May indicates the following: a. That TSS has held up at least 50% of the pending work because of lack of equipment which has yet to be delivered. That all of the requirements for the installation of new equipment not yet delivered are not knawn and cannot now be specified. d. That he has not complained about the progress of any work except in the case of the removal of the stairway, which was more difficult to accomplish because of questions raised by the PBS Fire Marshall and others. e.
