SUBJECT : Water Supply,
REFERENCE : Memorandum to Emergency Planning Officer,
CIA, dated 30 March 1953.

1. A survey was 25X1A6a
made on 29 April 1953 with reference to providing a sufficient
water supply for domestic consumption and fire protection in the
event of low city water pressure or disruption of the city water
supply system.
2. The survey substantiates the statements made in the
reference memorandum and the following proposals are suggesteds
a. Provide a 200,000 gallon steel storage
tank on the high ground now the office
building. Tank to provide for "complete
outage" of the city water system for a
minimum period of five (5) days.
Estimated Cost . . . . . . . . . . . . . . X20,000.00
b. Provide booster pumps to take supply
from either (or both) the city system
or the storage tank, to maintain a mini-
mum water pressure of 40 lbs.

c. Provide emergency fire hose stations at
strategic locations in each building,
generally two stations on each floor.

3. The use of the fish pond mentioned in the reference memo-
randa for supplementary fire protection is not recd nded.

not considered sufficient to maintain the
required water level.

b. Maintaining pond storage capacity from the
city water supply is not justified If the
steel storage tank is provided.
4. advises 25X1A6a
that in discussing this problem with the AM/A# it was indicated
that if the project was approved, fiscal year 1953 funds would be
allocated.
as That action as proposed in paragraph 2
above be approved.
b. That funds in accordance with the estimate
of 23,800.00 be approved in order that this
Office may prepare the necessary drawings,
contract documents, and award contract using
fiscal year 1953 funds.
