No regular DD/P Staff Meeting. 3. Items of interest from the DD/S Staff Meeting, a. CFC, EAF, and PSAS Progress Report The campaign is just beginning so breakouts are not very significant. The Support Directorate, however, is off to a good start. It has reached 19.11% of its goal of $68, 000. In comparison, the CS has reached 3.45 %; the DDI, 4. 59%; and the DDS&T 9, 82% of established goals. b. Assistant to the Director. will succeed Joseph (Jake) Goodwin. is now in the process of reading in. Mr. Goodwin is sc e u e t0 o e effective 31 December 1971, c. Visit b Congressman Nedzi. Congressman Lucien N. Nedzi and two members of the Intelligence Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee visited Headquarters for the first time on 4 October. A breakfast for the group was followed by a series of briefings and discussions. Mr. Coffey noted that Mr. Nedzi appeared to be able, perceptive and interested in learning more about the Agency. d. Five Percent Cut- Grade Rollback. Mr. Fisher said that there is no new information on personnel reductions. No reply has been received from OMB on the Agency's 1 October letter seeking to obtain less severe directions. Because of several near accidents Mr. Osborn announced that as of 4 October tickets (traffic violations) will be issued for driving diagonally across parking rows in all parking lots. f. OMS Consultative Services. OMS is again putting out a notice on the availability of consultative services in OMS. The notice will be a reminder to all employees that the services are available and for supervisors who have employee problems. The workload in this office has doubled in two years. g. 1971 Spouse Visits. announced that 23 October has been set as the date for visits to Headquarters by families of Support Directorate employees. The program will be introduced by Mr. Coffey, followed by the film, "Need to Know. " Then there will be a tour of selected offices, lunch (optional) in the North Cafeteria, and visits to employee's offices, where security considerations permit. Other Directorates will be scheduled soon. 4. Other items of interest. a. DCI Remarks on 17 September 1971. The Director's remarks at the annual awards ceremony on 17 September will be reproduced and given an AB distribution. b. Credit Union. Harry Fisher has reported that the Board of Directors of the Credit Union voted a 6% dividend for the third quarter ending 30 Sept. You will recall that for the first quarter, 5-1/2% was paid and for the second quarter, 6% was paid. The Credit Union hoped to pay more than 6% for the third quarter but found that 6% is the maximum allowable. Therefore, the Board of Directors has voted to give all persons paying on loans a 10% rebate on the interest they paid during the third quarter. Reports on Support Career Service. has now obtained from the several panel chairmen their full notes on their topics discussed at the Conference. The full package will be given to Mr. Coffey by mid-October and Mr. Coffey hopes to proceed quickly towards adoption of all possible suggestions. d. News Items. U. S. News and World Report for October 11 has an item on the Agency. It is a piece called "The Attack" by Victor Marchetti and a piece called "The Reply" by Lyman Kirkpatrick. Time has a current article on the KGB and American intelligence. Newsweek has yet to print its story on the intelligence community.
