Approved For Release 2001/07/28 CIA- 8-04727A000100070038-4 5 November 1954 25X1A MEMORANDUM FOR: Colonel L. K. White SUBJECT : E~ ansion of Facilities 25X1A2g 25X1A6a 25X1A6a 1. At the PRO meeting on 10 November, the Office of Communications will present a request for $50,000 to expand their facilities on This amount was included in their FY 1955 operating budget. 2. They propose to add a second story onto the west wing of the Receiving Building at the radio station, providing about 2,600 square feet of new useable space. The exact cost is estimated at $47,782. The project outline states that the increase in personnel equipment, and operating procedures since this project was implemented in 1950, has resulted in over-crowding to the point of causing inefficient operation. 3. Attached to the project is a memorandum from the Chief, RE&C/LO, to the Chief, Engineering Division/Commo, in response t their inquiry of 17 August 1954, giving estimated costs of installinga.rious central air conditioning systems ranging from $78,000 to $88,000. If the con- struction requested in paragraph 2 above is authorized, these figures would be reduced by approximately $6,000 through the elimination of window air conditioners included therein. 25X1A9a 4. I discussed these proposals with sir. of Commo who tells me that whereas air conditioning could be considered an operational necessity in view of the climate and the added heat produced by the equipment, and a central plant might be more efficient and economical operationally, he did not feel they could urge the point with any great conviction, particularly since they have no provision in their FY 1955 budget for any such installation. As I get the picture, all they will address themselves to is the $50,000 building project. is going to check this with Commo before the meeting. 00C REV DATE BY --~ 6 TYPE ____ QAIG COMP _ Uri ~r GRIG CLASS PAGES Sl_ REV CLASS JUST a__-- NEXT REV Q0//-- AUTH: HR 70.2 Approved For Release 2001/07/28 : Cl Assistant Deputy Director (Administration) RDP Q4Z2ZA000100070038-4
