MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Suppor
1, This memorandum is for information only.
2. It has been determined to proceed with
construction, using the Corps of Engineers as our on-
struction Agent. In order to expedite this project to
the greatest extent possible, the following steps were
taken:
a. Plans and specifications were largely
developed by the Real Estate and Construction
Division, OL, prior to approval of the project.
b. Requisitions have been placed for mate-
rial and equipment which could not be procured
locally, thus saving several months compared
with a contractor ordering this material after
award of a construction contract.
c. Discussions held with representatives
of the Corps of Engineers at Headquarters
relative to procedures and timing for this
project.
3 Plans have now been forwarded to the Station
at ~ and through the Corps o~ineers' channels
to the Gulf District Engineer,
Construction Engineer, will proceed to
on pril 196 to represent the Agency in away ing
a contract for site development, foundations for
buildings and antennae, erection of prefab buildings
and installation of utilities.
4, Arrangements are.. being made with the prefab
supplier to furnish a skilled foreman to supervise the
erection of the prefab buildings.
