Central intelligence Agency,
The Honorable James E. Webb, Director, Bureau of the
Budget, by letter of November 18, 1948, has requested that
we confirm to you an arrangement agreed upon between your
Agency and the Federal Bureau of investigation, whereby the
Federal Bureau of Investigation will conduct security
investigations of present and prospective employees of
the Central Intelligence Agency for the remainder of the
fiscal year 1949 and for the fiscal year 1950.
I am pleased to inform you that the Federal Bureau
of Investigation is in a position to undertake these
investigations immediately on a reimbursable basis at
the rate of $200 per case which was the figure heretofore
agreed upon.
I trust that mutually satisfactory arrangements may
be worked out in connection with these investigations
through liaison presently in existence between your Agency
and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
