1. Transmitted herewith in duplicate, is a letter dated 4 April
1950 addressed to this office by the Assistant Comptroller General of
the United Mates, Mr. Frank L. Yates, and two carbon copies of his
letter, (date stamped 4 April 1950) addressed to the Attorney General
at the United States. concerninp., claims filed by stee in Bank-
ruptcy of the involving the 25X1
Central Intelligence Agency, in amounts of *1,2SO.22 and 4'87.311,
respectively.
2. A Joint scrutiny of the record by Ur. of the Fiscal 25X1
Division and Mr. of the Finance Division revealed that the
claims arose from Contract No. which was originally no- 25X1
gotiatod by the Strategic Services Unit, in the amount of 30,0O0.
The brief examination of the file also revealed that the eontraot
was terminated before all considerations were furnished and that
billings were received as claimed but that payments were withheld
because it appeared that certain contractual conditions were not
fully complied with.
3. The documents concerning this claim are forwarded for
appropriate attention and advice no that we may comply with the
request of the Assistant Comptroller General of the United states.
