There have been no significant technical or operational problems, other than long hours and personnel shortages, at any station in the area. With the arrival of additional personnel at on 19 and 22 October relief has been prov ed to the three crisis area Stations which had previously been operating with only one ruin. b. Traffic volumes have been extremely heavy. In one 24-hour period the U.S. Base Station processed 39,000 transmissions, of which 12,000 were DVtEDIATF and 1,400 were FLASH precedence, A large proportion of the volume Base Station load is associated with the Middle Fast situation and additional load is also being felt due to the destruction of station fi laA in the about 28,000 transmissions of which 5,00 IMMEDIATE and 20 FLASH.
