CALKING
a-0]. SCOPE: The work covered by this section of the
specifications consists in .,furnishing all plant, labor,
-equipment, alliances, and materials not furnished by the
Government, and in performing all b. operations in connection
with the ap'iljcation of ca .k.ng, complete, in strict
accordance with this soct1on of the specifications and the
applicable drawings, and subject to the terms and conditions
of the contract.

calking occurring in connection With joints in concrete
floors; contacts between members of metal windows, metal
doors and metal frames* joints in paver tilr floors; and

Specification forms a part of this specifications
TT-C-598 Coppoupd, Calking; Plastic, (for

Monts: 8-04 MABIRIALS. shall conform to the following require-
a- C li on=und: Federal Specification
TT-C-598, grade 1. The color of the calking compound shall
match the color of the mortar joints. Delivery of the calk-
ing compound to the building site shall be in the manufacturer's
original sealed packages.
b. Stahl for the joint grooves in masonry shall
be a quick-drying liquid, of a type and consistency recom-
mended by,the manufacturer of the calking compound.
c. Ro, .De_ y,2,= shall be the raveled strands of
rope fiber free from oil or other staining element.
8,05 SAMPLES: Before the work of application is
started, samples of all materials proposed for use shall be
submitted to the Contracting Officer for approval.
8-06 APPLICATION: Calking shall be installed in
joints around wood or metal frames built into masonry,
concrete, or shotcrete-finished exterior walls, or in any
other joints so indicated on the drawings and as specified
udder other sections of these specifications. Calkin
compound shall be applied by.the..gun method using nozzles
of proper sizes'to fit the .several widths of the joints,
The type of gun shall be subject to approval by the Con-
tracting Officer.

minimum of 3/4 inch in depth and 1/. inch in width unless other-
