Approved For Release 2Q,Q0/09/08 : C1A-RDP78-05343000200090032-2 25X1A 25X1A 11 January 1974 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Medical Services SUBJECT BSSC Discussion of Agency Sensitivity Training Course As requested, following is a summary of the discussion of the CMS Behavioral and Social Sciences Committee of the current Agency course in sensitivity training at the BSSC meeting 10 January 1974. a. The suggested OMS position was proposed by C/PSS and other committee members concurred. In essence this was that the OMS should take the leadership in questioning the appropriateness of the course. Office of Security cer- tainly has an interest but the responsibility of the OMS for the mental and physical welfare of Agency employees should take precedence. b. C/PS indicated that the course in question is "Human Interaction Laboratory" presented by the Office of Technical Services and is intended to enable case officers to understand themselves better. The one-week course was previously run at but is now being presented at c. Suggested points for the OMS position are: (1) The course is sensitivity training. (2) It has hurt Agency employees. (3) What are the objectives of the course and what is its value? (4) Legal aspect -- possibility of BEC claim by employee hurt in the course. 31 December 1980 011950 Approved For Release 2000/09/08 : CIA-RDP78-05343A000200090032-2 Approved For Release 2000/09/08 : CIA-RDP78-05343A000200090032-2 SUBJECT: BSSC Discussion of Agency Sensitivity Training Course (5) Fact that OTR has apparently been defensive about the course may indicate that that office would join OMS in any inquiry concerning the course. 25X1A Office of Medical Services OMS/Exa1: ned Distribution: brig & 1 - Addressee ,&2 - D/MS Files Approved For Release 2000/09/08 : CIA-RDP78-05343A000200090032-2
