SUBJECT: Separate Career Service for Machine Records People 1. In reference to your inquiry regarding the possibility of establishing a separate Career Service for Machine Records employees, we can report that conversations have been held with Mr. 25X1A9a and Mr. Paul Borel. They recommend that a Career Service not be set up but that the administrators of Machine Records' projects be in touch with each other periodically to exchange technical information and to arrange for assignments and reassignments of individuals in this field. Of particular note in this regard is Mr. Borel's statement that the majority of persons assigned to Machine Records? work in his unit are absorbed into other jobs in OCR with the result that it is more efficient to manage them as part of the OCR Career Service than to separate them from the rest of his unit. 2. It is our belief that the career needs of Machine Records people can be met along the lines proposed above. We will, of course, be most happy to study any peculiar problem that arises in this field. 25X1A9a Approved For Release 20 Class. 9 [alas;. i ; es Tom '3S S C AVAIL: "'A 6 4" ~A Ins (-,r 9- _v Brow )P78-05538A000100010020-8 16 OCT197
