SUBJECT a NIS User Questionnaire
1. National Intelligence Survey Program emphasis since 1963 has been on the pro-
duction'of the single-volume General Survey on all areas of national security interest.
Revised periodically, the General Survey is supported by detailed topical units produced
on a highly selective basis; it is complemented by the semiannual NIS 13a.sic Intelligence
Fact book, which provides interim updating of basic data for all NIS Areas.
2. The attached questionnaire is an integral part of an overall effort to assess the va-
lidity of the current NIS structure and emphasis, to ascertain the utility of the Program,
and to determine how it might better serve user needs. Because the data compiled from
the questionnaire will be critical to future NIS planning, please respond fully and pre-
cisely to all questions that apply to you. The completed questionnaire should be returned
as soon as possible but not later than 1 March 1969 using the envelope provided.
