i . I am enclosing a copy of the revised outline guides
for Chapter IV (" ciological), Chapter V (Political), nd Chap-
ter VI (Econorrtc) of the NIS Standard Instructions. These re-
visions were approved by the NIS Committee At its 197th
meeting held on 14 June 1955.
2. The covering memorandum dated 14 June 1955 from
the State member explains the nature of the revisions :And the
m nneer in which suggestions from the ,-'rmy, Navy, -kir Force
and USI =~. were incorporated into the outlines.
3. The NIS Committee considers that the new outline
guides reflect a bAl-tnced rnte r aticen of psychological warfare
requirements in the National Intelligence Survey and serve as
an adequate basis for Jeveloping this important category of
basic intelligence.
