NIS Gazetteers

In connection with the attached request from Mr. Paul L. Berry
of the Library of Congress, it will be necessary to retain the state-
xnent 'For .Oiftaiat U",Only", on all NIS Gazetteers. These Gazetteers
are produced for intelligence purposes and must be restricted to
offic l ***.of government activities. However, arrangements were
made during the past year for the Board of Geographic Names to
produce Gasstteere for sale by the Superintendent of Documents,
U.". overn:m nt. There Gazetteers are all based on data developed
for the 3!I3S~ G}s+aFette~rs, but there is no identification with the NIS
"rograr:n in the ones that are placed on public sale. Thus far
sbout twelve: Gazetteers have been reproduced by the Board on
Cva,#graphic Names and placed on sale by the Superintendent of
Docv%mente. . A list of these is attached.
