The NIS anaaetaft is designed to n aintaut each HIS Chapter 1 (Brief)
on a yearly basis by reflecting significant changes in the whole basic
tatelligenc? picture of each HIS area. but osp.ctally in the political.
econonxic, and military fields. The NIS annual an s&cb NI S area will
also supersede the corresponding CI Handbook. thereby effecting
economies through the consolidation of separate intelligence
publications dealing largely with basic intelligence an foreign coentries.
While the DCI Handbooks have generally been restricted to CIA use
only. the HIS an*u is will be used throughout the Intekligenco Community
and other government agencies as required by *sir need for
intelligence support.
