i. behalf of the NIS Committee and the Office of Basic
Intelligence I wish to express appreciation for the outstanding
services performed by the artography Division for the NIS
Program during Fiscal Year 1957.
Z. Your staff completed 3 i NIS base maps which were two
in excess of scheduled commitments for the year. They also
compiled and constructed 155 final NIS intelligence craps and
charts for the Departments of State and Interior and various
agency components engaged in the NIS Program. In addition,
your staff processed 429 NIS intelligence maps for color proofing
or final printing. Moreover. the cartographic excellence of the
summary maps for HIS Chapteas I (Brief) has woo repeated praise
throughout the Intelligence Community.
3. A fine spirit of cooperation and painstaking effort under
constant pressure are characteristic of you and your splendid staff.
It gives me great personal pleasure to convey this appreciation to
you for a job well done.
