After checking with ad being assured of proper clearances, LtCol Isaac Perry Cocks arrived this morning In response to my invitation to look into the NIS for recent data on conscription of military forces in such NATO countries as have been recently covered by the N'IS. Quite a list of countries are on continuous release to the Selective Service System pursuant to NIS Committee action on 13 March 1962. 2. Col Cocke spent the morning looking at General Surveys on France 25X6 and Fast Germany (in proof) and the Section 8 manuscript on Finland. He looked also at the Chapter I on- Colombia, and Venezuela. The subsection on Manpower and Morale in Section 8 in these items seemed 25X6 to meet his needs fully. He also looked at the Section 83 manuscript on and got a partial story. I noted that the Section $ on Belgium is due in August this year and Poland is due in November. The Colonel seemed to be primarily interested in the 25X1A9aFrom I found that be, having putiw DIA clearance in order could go to the Military Capabilities Division W 25X6A 3. The Colonel said that General Hershey had been asked to make a talk on conscription in the NATO countries and that this research plus the DIA interview should fulfill the General's requirement. The Colonel said he had responded to the- questionnaire trying to 25X1A tell them how valuable the MS was to the Selective Service System. 25X1A9a DAD! BI:nh Distribution: 1 ?
