1. Some time ago Dave Carleton, Liquid. Fuels, Bureau of Mines,
requested release to him of the General Surveys on Iraq and Algeria.
Algeria had no sensitive coverage of intelligence and security and was
released to Mr. Carleton. Iraq, however, presented difficulties.
25X1 A9 suggested this Survey be released to Mr. Carleton on a
25X1A9loan basis or access be granted to the volume here in Alcott Hall.
to mollify I suggested to Mr. Carleton that the BuMines
man come to A cott Hall and use the Iraq General Survey. Carleton
seemed to understand the security precautions and telephoned 9 August
saying that Mr. Coling was the analyst writing for the NIS on Iraq.
2. Mr. Carleton was to call me and make arrangements
for the visit whenever Mr. Coling was ready. When he calls,
