5. To avoid possible confusion to be caused by renumbering sections
succeeding Section 31} (Petroleum Pipelines) and for the conv9nience'of'users
who might look in Chapter III for material on petroleum pipelines, it-was
decided to leave the numbering of all sections of Chapter III as it was under
the original outline. Following "Section 34 - Petroleum Pipelines" in the
Chapter Table of Contents will appear the statement, "See Subsection 62C
(Petroleum) and Supplement V (Petroleum)", or, when appropriate, "Not Applicable".
6. Stands Instructions for Chapter I (Brief) were discussed and
unanimously approved.
7. The State member distributed copies of a prototype of an NIS index
proposed at the last meeting. State is to prepare a more nearly complete
index relating to material in its field of primary interest and the other
agencies are to do likewise. D/NIS will then consolidate these indexes.
Chapter coordinators will use this consolidated index to assist them in
exercising their function of coordination. After experience has been gained
in the use of the index and any necessary revisions thereof have been made,
final decision regarding its use, form, and place in the NIS will be made.
8. Members are to reexamine in their agencies the D/NIS proposal made
at NIS Committee Meeting No, 50 regarding action to accomplish production of
1TIS 45 (Japan) in the field. This proposal will be discussed at the next
meeting.
9. The next meeting was scheduled for 1000 hours, Tuesday, 20 June 1950,
at CIA.
