It was decided at NIS Coirnidttee Meeting No. 22, 15 February 1949,
that NIS S45 "will be a special study with Chapter I -type treatnient".
This does not imply that there will be any condensation of material
such as would be done for sections of orthodox Chapters I. All pertinent
material available should be presented in each section, just as. though
the section were an orthodox chapter.
The implications are as follows:
1. Chapters will be placed in section form and sections
of the chapter will become subsections of the sections. For
example, Chapter II becomes Section 11 and takes the following
format :
"Section 11. Military Geography
"A. General (corresponds to 'Introduction')
"B. Oceanography
"1. General (if desired)
"2. Tides and currents
!!3. Sea and swell
"4. Sea-water characteristics
115. Bottom Sediments and Topography
'!6. Algae and Bioluminescence
117. Comments on Principal Sources
"C. Coast and Landing Beaches, etc."
2. When other sections have been prepared, the Chapter I
Subcommittee ,rill prepare a Chapter I-style Section 10.
