2. The Vice-Chairman noted that only 25% of the production commitments
for January had been met during the first three weeks of the month. He expressed
concern over this low production since the revised production schedule which
went into effect on 1 January 1952 was supposed to be in line with agency
capabilities. In a general discussion of the production situation it was brought
out that this low production was due chiefly to delays encountered in the final
review aid reproduction of NIS materials. The-members indicated that there
should be considerable improvement in production during the coming week, but
it appears that NIS production for January will fall far short of the goal set

After discussion it was decided to defer final action in the matter until 25X1 X7 ^
the Committee members had determined the views of their respective agencies
relative to making the Gazetteers available

5. The Vice-Chairman reported on his meeting with the Chairman of the
Petroleui Subcommittee of the BIC relative to the question raised by this
Subcommittee as to the advisability of producing Supplement V (Petroleum)
for NIS 26 (USSR) at this time. (Refer to paragraph 2, NIS Committee Meeting
No. 120, and paragraph 3, NIS Committee Meeting Be. 122). He stated that a
full discussion of the facts bearing upon the matter had resulted in a
satisfactory understanding, and that the Bureau of Mines was proceeding with
the production of the aupplemat concerned.
6. The next meeting of the Committee will he held at the call of the
