ATTACHMENT B to WAR #L i, 9 October
PROJECT: Human Relations Information for Instructor Staff
To furnish staff instructors with brief digests con-
cerning the cultural backgrounds of the peoples of the various areas
designed to aid them in their day-to-day relation-
s ps w~ es.
BACKGROUND:
a. Persons returning from PCS and TDY tours have pointed 25X1A
out a lack of pertinent cultural material to which instructors may
refer in preparing themselves to deal with the indigenous trainees.
Area Survey (geographical, political) type material is available at
the Station, but nothing of any consequence on how to establish and
maintain rapport with the students--their local customs, beliefs, and
taboos. "Old FE hands" in many cases are walking encyclopedias of
this kind of information; instructors who are in the area for the first
time, however, are at a disadvantage in dealing with the trainees.
