1. Addition of good CI case would help--perhaps in place of the medical
and drinking problems (but not in place of useful discussions on latter
two subjects which warrant discussion).
2. Monthly finance course would be definitely useful.
3. No--there is not time. Case study approach, unless it's extraordinarily
well done, produces too little for the time consumed. The exercises
used in the course (finance, vehicles, death case, fitness report exercise)
were all deficiently conceived and poorly handled by the lecturers.
4. You now have a very fine balance. I recommend additional time for
discussion of the more "universal" questions and matters of vital
interest.
5. Case studies might be used--but care should be taken lest the case be
one from which no general lesson can be learned.
6. No.
7. Yes, but brief. Should be presented as an example by the lecturer in
terms of his basic subject. Class acting out the problem is not, in my
opinion, particularly useful.
8. No. Thought that most of the case studies were poor.
9. Not really. Scrap the case.
10. No.
11. Yes, if more complete than the two problem cases presented.
12. Skills, i.e. in finance, records, etc., I think should not be included.
In cases like my own where the student is going to a very small station
or base and must develop skills in finance, record keeping, commo,
etc. , I think there is no way of avoiding a specific and longer course
in these fields. Case studies helpful. CI needs one.
