C. 20505 2SAUG1d' 2. The Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) solicits mapping, charting and geodesy requirements and priorities on an annual basis from all DoD elements as well as other agencies that utilize DoD MC&G products. The requirements and priorities requested for submission should express the total need for a product, relative to the area concerned, without con- sideration as to the adequacy of existing coverage or materials, or the feasibility of producing the desired product. 3. Reference a. establishes the responsibilities for submitting and validating MC&G area requirements. Reference b. provides strategic guidance and regional appraisals as a basis for MC&G support. Reference c. states MC&G objectives and priorities and provides basic guidance for the development of MC&G requirements. Reference d. provides the consolidated requirements developed last year in support of JSOP FY 74-81. Reference e. provides detailed guidance for the submission of MC&G requirements. 4. The DMA has prepared a concept for a Topographic Readiness Plan for satisfying large scale mapping requirements which should result in modification to the currently expressed requirements for large scale products. A representative from y ur agency attended the DMA Conference on 3-4 August where details of the plan were discussed as well as a general discussion on area requirements. Copies of the planwere_furni_shed your representative and appropriate graphics were furnished under separate cover nc1osure 2 provides an abstract of the Topographic Readiness Plan; and, in your submission, the type of situation categorized in the Plan should be noted for areas requiring city products or large scale topo- graphic maps. The type of situation can be indicated by a narrative statement as the normal utilization by your agency would appear to fall in the intelligence and planning category. A representative from DMA will contact your representative who participated in the 3-4 August Conference, prior to the middle of September, for the purpose of reviewing previous submissions from your agency as well as reviewing current plans for this year's submission. 6.
