I. Posfible Extensions of Some Retirements in Anticipation of
Pay Raise Cables were sent to all overseas personnel scheduled to retire
between 1 December 1972 and 6 January 1973, offering them the opportunity
to delay their retirement dates to 8 January 1973 if a pay raise is approved.
The Retirement Operations Branch has personally advised each employee at
Headquarters.
2. PLIAS for Regional Retirement $.minars/CourzseliI&2 We are
making plans to conduct retirement counseling activities at selected
in early 1973. With the short period available we are
contemplating trips to only about three
with large clusters
of personnel. The reactions to our inquiries to Headquarters components having

3. Consultant ft:newel Exercise: The annual consultant renewal

consultant on 20 June 1972. Upon their return and after approval
by the Office of General Counsel, the contracts or appointment papers were
signed and forwarded to the Office of Finance. Of the 71 consultants involved
this year, all but one have either responded or been accounted for. The
Individual who has not responded has been sent a follow-up letter.
4. Lanjuage
has received an inquiry from the
Chief of the Language School, Office of Training about the Summer Intern
Program. OTR is considering using students majoring in linguistics at the
25X1A graduate level. The Director of Training has approved the concept and
w111 brief the Chief of the Language School on the program today.
5. Job Fair: This is a follow-up to last week's report on the
Air Force Job Fair at Crystal City on 3-5 November covered by
Of the 1500 registered, 272 expressed interest in employment
with the Agency. This far exceeds the responses received by any of the other

7. Reserve Speakers Mr. Thomas 3 Deakin, Special Agent
Supervisor from the FBI, has accepted an invitation to address the members
of the Agency Military Reserve Unit tonight, 13 November, on the subject
"U.S. Social nvironm.nt. The meeting will be held in the auditorium at
1745 hours.
8. UBLIC Drive: It appears that our drive to enroll additional
employees under UBLIC coverage may be reachingnd. There were some
increases, though, last week over the previous reporting period. Total
number of applications ncreased from 250 to 266. new applications went
up from 205 to 218, applications for increase of coverage from 45 to 48, and
the amount of increase of coverage n force from $5,227,400 to $5,630,600.
9. Blood Donors: A total of 202 pints of blood were donated by Agency
employees on 7 November 1972.
