He offered either ser*ice free of charge, but did ask that we give him our reaction, and results, and permit him to say that we had tried out the materials and to quote whatever we had found. This would include, of course, programmed materials wherever these seemed most appropriate. One problem is that none of the = staff is cleared through TOP SECRET, which may delay their support for 90 days. Another problem is that we have no clear idea of the extent to which Ms help will be needed. Dr. 25X1A - however, win send.NPIC a proposal which will merely offer ~ 25X1 A services when, and to the extent, needed. It should arrive within two weeks. 25X1 A 3. Mr. OC Training Officer, has asked 1A for a list o t e programed materials available in trigonometry, a - gebra, calculus, relays switches, and. "klyphons", for possible use in a self-instructional training program for OC people. 25X1A it. On 26 October, met with several psy- chologists from the Army s Personnel Research Office who have been devot- ing much time to the investigation of problems of photo interpretation. Their three-hour briefing reported an impressive amount of research completed, or under way, in this area, some of which may have direct relevance to the design of training materials for NPIC. They called our attention to an Air Force symposium on photo interpretation, to be held at Griffiss AFB, Rome, New York, on 7-8 November, which 25X1 A and NPIC, are now planning to attend. They also offered us copies o., a se ection battery for photo interpreters which they have recently developed, which we have since formally requested from General Bearch, head of the Army's Research and Development Command. Future con- tracts with this knowledgeable and dedicated group should continue to be rewarding. 25X1A On 26 October a contract psychologist from the 25X1A was in Washington working with DD/OCR, on the program which has been developing for use in the Intelligence Subject Code 25X1A course. Both instructors, as well as were well pleased with the progress so far. It is anticipated that the contract, involving the preparation of approximately eight hours of programmed materials, will be completed by Christmas. 25X1A 6. has begun to spend most of his time at the Steuart Building, arizing himself with the work of the NPIC photo inter- preter. 7. The assessment of the class of January, 1963 JOT's already on board will begin on 15 November 1962. On this date written assessment procedures will be administered to approximately 18 JOT's. -2- .ONFIDENTI Approved For Release 2001/Q f12 : CIA D,p'78-O1" 4AIJ0100040001-9 Approved For Release 2001,/ /12 CIA-RDP78-0608 0100040001-9 SUBJECT: Weekly Report No. 39 1 November - 7 November 1962 Assessment and Evaluation Staff CONFIDENTIAL" 8.
