1. is resigning to enter graduate school and to
obtain a position as a teacher. He stated that the decision to
enter teaching was made shortly after entering into training; he
realized that if he completed the course he would be obligated to
stay for a year or more beyond that to repay the Agency for the
time invested in training him. He felt that since he was clear
in his own mind that his ultimate goal was teaching, he might as
well begin in his preferred field as soon as possible. He is
hoping to matriculate at a university somewhere in the west, and
to obtain a position as a high school teacher. Until then he will
find a position of some kind, probably in this area, to provide
him with rent money, etc.
2. One can only speculate why reached his decision
at the time he did. He claims that his performance in training
was satisfactory, although reports of his performance reflected
definite weaknesses. It is not likely, although it is a possi-
bility, that having become aware of the competition he faced, he
did not wish to make a poor shoring, for he was well aware of his
deficiencies and knew that he had much room for improvement. If
it was fear of failure, he is not admitting it.
