as of this date. Mrs
Staff on the subject of enrollment and in addition has talked with
a large number of branch personnel about the course. In a7mxst
every instance the results are the same: although the course is
considered desirable, no people can be spared to take it. I talked
at length with - of N$ on 15 May about this point, and as a
conscientious training officer his observations are pertinent. He
is informed of all of his division personnel actions and knows what
training requirements exist, but he said the personnel pinch is so
severe that it is difficult in some cases even to cover the desks,
let alone provide training. This is probably true in one degree or
another in the other divisions Which have to supply man power to
the high priority areas. As it now stands, ,,AF, HE and WE have stated
they have no students for CSW Course No. 20. FE "might" have one,
and EE will send one if "directed" to do so by the FI Staff. WE is
silent. Incidentally, the one person enrolled in the course is from
TSD. The prospects for running the course are, to state it
conservatively, dim.
6. Covert Action Operations (CAO):
Course No. 55 is in its third and final week.
7. Scientific and Technical Operations (80):
No further action has been taken in this area since we have not
received Mr. report (see WAR No. 18).
C. A 4INISTRATION
