Memorandum
Registrar/TR
Chief, External Training Branch, RS/ TR
DATE: 8 October 1965
SUBJECT: Weekly Activities Report No. 29
4 October - 8 October 1965
1. For the "New Nations of Africa, "we now have only
the OCR analysts. It was decided that there were too many
security implications for the ORR candidates. Employee
Activity Branch/OS will have a special briefing prior to the
program.
2. Our first contact with the new NSA Registrar,
was to enroll in the 25X1
"490 Programming Course" involving TIPS and RYE Systems.
was most accommodating and understanding
five-lined memorandum explaining her withdrawal satisfies
the normal external training procedure. However, in a subse-
quent phone call she explained that it was a "communication
breakdown. " During this conversation she said that ORD is
contemplating the installation of many of the NSA machines so
we may expect an increase in requests for NSA courses.
first hour or two and decided the course was inapplicable to
her requirement. She spent the remainder of the time
inspecting NSA machines. Needless to say the ORD Training
Officer was chagrined. Arrangements for an orientation are
25X1
far simpler than enrollment in a course.

4. I has sent the itineraries for next
spring's National War College orientation trips. This is the
first year they have begun at such an early date. As usual
one of the. orientations will include Iron Curtain countries.
A request for participation has been 25X1
forwarded tote DDIP Training icer.
5. Traditionally the Petroleum Indoctrination Course
is held twice a year, usually in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
This year it will be held at Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our nominee
is NPIC.
6. Each year the Office of Logistics send employees
to the Navy's Price Analysis and Contract Negotiation Course.
Every year OL does not give us their requirements in advance
and every year we are on a stand-by basis. So far this has
been a satisfactory arrangement. The course coordinator
informs us that this course has now been included in a new
Navy mid-career plan. It is unlikely that we will be able to
participate this year.
PERSONNEL ITEM:
With the departure of 25X1
was placed in our travel and fiscal
position on a trial basis. Since that time has 25X1
diligently applied himself and the results are apparent. His
performance to date far exceeds expectation. He has a long
way to go but it is obvious that he will make an excellent
Finance/ Administrative employee. Therefore, with your
permission, I would like to have him permanently assigned
to the job.
