FROM : Chief, Career Training Program
SUBJECT: Weekly Activities Report #25
A. SIGNIFICANT ITEMS
There is a distinct possibili y that we may not make our
goal of 50 for the October class' We still have about six weeks
in which to improve the outlook, but as of 1 September the situ-
ation is as follows:
a. A total of 30 may be considered firm, including 22
externals and 8 internals.
b. Eighteen have completed all processing including
the polygraph, but have not yet received full clearance.
c. Five have received full clearance, but for various
personal reasons have not set EOD dates.
d. Ten are scheduled for polygraph examination within
the next few days, but the prospects are dim that the field
investigations will be completed and full clearance granted
in time for the class.
e. Among pending internal cases, there may be two
more who will prove to be both acceptable and available.
f. There are 51 actions in process on applicants who
stated availability dates prior to 11 October. The possibility
is remote that any of these will be completed in time for the
October class.

Past experience suggests that out of these categories we
may get the following:
From b. , 5 or 6; from c., perhaps 3; from d., 2;
from e., 2 (there are many more internal applicants in
process but they are for January and subsequent classes.
Several are currently being held back by their offices
because of work pressures. ); from f. , perhaps 1 or 2.
The total yet likely to become available, therefore, is
around 12 - 15. We will make every effort to increase
it.
In a separate report I will develop this subject in more
detail, project it over the next several months, and suggest
action to improve the situation.
