25X1 A 1. - met wit of WH Division to discuss 25X1 A
some informal classes which they are considering holding in
the Division, using their own personnel and time. No definite.
conclusion was reached as to whether they will actually carry
out their idea. In any case, they propose s low-level reading
course only, to start in the Fall.
25X1A 2~ ~ talked with DC/EE concerning a possible training
25X1A pro3ect for teaching an aural comprehension course in several
languages for monitors. suggested NSA as a possible
source of suitable train will look into this further
even though the Divisions interest has waned somewhat in view
of the length of time involved.
25X1 A 3. came to consult- on 25X1 A
problems of testing and training personnel for overseas trans-
lating and transcription of Russian, He informed us that this
is of interest to the Transcription Task Force devoted to the
subject, and to which FE felt 25X1A
that existing examinations for their personnel need to be greatly
improved and new training programs possibly set up. It was 25X1A
decided that as soon as SR/~ needs are more clearly formulated
the DC will request of LTS whatever assistance mey be required.
25X1A 4. We are now experiencing the annual swnmer sharp increase
in - requests for assistance in language testing by Agency
staff members and LTS contract personnel. The languages
concerned are principally Danish, Dutch, and Swedish.
