This interagency course is designed to introduce professional intelligence personnel to the uses of information handling systems and their application in the Intelligence Community. Each student will be taught to use a computer terminal and to apply computer library programs to intelligence problems. Fundamental techniques applying the principle of Information Science to the solution of intelligence analytic problems will be demonstrated. Field trips to NSA, CIA, and other community agencies will emphasize the role of computer-based intelligence information handling systems. Selected developments throughout the Intelligence Community will be described by members of the Information Science faculty and guest speakers. OBJECTIVES: 1. To familiarize the student with the capabilities, limitations, contents, and applicability of major operational intelligence systems in the Intelligence Community. 2. To introduce Systems Concepts fertilization of the student to developments in as a vehicle for the cross- techniques and ideas throughout Intelligence Community. 3. To improve the student's ability to communicate with professionals in this field. 4. To provide a wider range of rational choices to the professional in the analysis, problem solving, and decision making tasks he encounters, through an introduction to Community-wide applications of ~nf ation Science techniques. Tod Secret security clearance with access to-SI/SAO certification is required. No previous technical or scientific education or training is necessary. The applicant's agency or department should be prepared to transmit certifications to DIA/SAO (Pentagon) for the Security Officer, Defense Intelligence School, and separately to the Registrar, Office of Training, CIA. The certifications must cite student name, social security number, date and title of course, as well as clearance status. DATE and TIME: 15 January through 2 February 1973. 0830-1630 hours, three-weeks, full-time. Building T-4, Room 100, Anacostia Annex U.S. Naval District Washington, Washington, D.C. 20390 No transportation will be provided, but parking space will be available. REGISTRATION: Training officers in each Agency or Department will receive requests for enrollment. They will then prepare a memorandum which will contain, in priority order, the names, grades or ranks and social security numbers of the applicants.
