SUBJECT Weekly Activities Report
20 - 24 November 1972
GENERAL
1. C/O~> met with a Navy civilian regarding the implementa-
tion of a training program requested by the Navy clandestine
collection staff two months ago. This man's understanding
of the program was somewhat at variance with the terms of
the Navy's written request. A memorandum of conversation
is being sent to DTR and FI/DCG on this subject.
AGENT AND LIAISON TRAINING BRANCH
2. :Dur:ing the period of this report ten programs
involving 3!a trainees were conducted, six in Washington,
three on TD77, one in Four of these programs
were completed, three continued and three begun. Two
of these 1a~tter are in the field.

4. In :response to a request from SB Division, Dave
left 20 November on a TDY operational assign-
ment in Europe. He is expected to return 24 November.

SUBJECT Weekly Activities Report - Language School
1. On Thursday, 30 November who has been a STATINTL
linguistic advisor to the Peace Corps an o e e ense Language
Institute, will spend the day with the linguistic staff of the :Language
School as a part of our keeping up with developments in the field of
linguistics. is an advocate of a form of language teaching STATINTL
referred to as situational reinforcement."
2. On Wednesday, 22 November,
attended the second meeting of a Germanic Roundtable wherein the
supervisors of the sections of the CIA., State and Defense language
schools meet to share information. DLI was the host this time and
offered an extensive program which included a tour of the facilities.
One of the most startling announcements by DLI was that, in the near
future, they 'will shift the emphasis of their instruction away from oral
practice to aural understanding and reading, probably in response to
the requirements of the Defense security agencies.
3. I would like to thank the Personnel Branch of OTR for obtaining
for us the services of for two weeks to work in the LS
Library while we are so Busy rying o get our books cataloged.

1. Administrative briefings were given to:
a? O/PPB, who will attend CSC's
"Seminar on Management of Organizations, " in Oak Ridge,
Tennessee. The two-week program begins 26 November.

b? OSP, for the Conference for
Management and Program Executives, hosted by the Brookings
Institution in Williamsburg, Virginia. This two-week program
begins 3 December.
2. AIR has received a letter from Wright Patterson AFB
stating that OL, has not been accepted for the
8 January 1'x73 running of the Applied Engineering Course. The
course is completely filled with Air Force students and no extra
spaces exisi: for other Government agencies. This is AF's last
scheduled running of the course. ~We will assist OL in locating
similar training at another facility.
3. The USDA Graduate School is having instructor problems to
quote the reason given for a sudden cancellation of two courses
scheduled to begin the week of 4 December, and for which we had
already received confirmation of our nominees. The courses are
"Managing Management Time" and "Developing and Installing Standards
of Managerial Performance." We had seven nominees from CRS
and NPIC .
4. AIR, and ISS personnel attended a 20 November meeting on
ADP training, chaired b Chief, OCS Training Staff. The
following components were represented: CRS,_DDP/ISD, OC,
FMSAC, and NPIC. discussed the courses scheduled by

OCS from January -June 1973 -- coverage, prerequisites, what
types of employees should attend the various courses, how OCS
developed its offerings, and reported on OCS's extensive video tape
and cassette program. Many of OCS's courses are on video tape,
and may be ;procured in the Headquarters language lab.

1. On 21. November Chief, CTP briefed , Chief, 25X1A
Selection Processing Division of OMS and D nd Dr. John
~of the OMS Psychiatric Staff on CTP selection procedures. Dr.
oted ghat OMS is now seeing very few CT applicants with possible
.psychiatric problems and attributed. this to careful screening by the CT
Staff.
2. On 20 November the CT Staff had a meeting with the July 1972 CT
Class to review their first Interim Assignment. Members of the Class
served in all four Directorates and in each of the DDP area Divisions.
The CT's performed well on these assignments, and based on their comments
the CT's not only learned a great deal from their first Interim, but
enjoyed doing it.
