- Approved For Relea000/,Q 21 - ~ffi[78 -062 0 0600200110dD rig MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director of Training SUBJECT' Senior Management Course REFERENCE : DD/S 72-2295 (DTR-7616), 9 June 1972, Subject: Management Training 25X1A 1. The "Management Block" in the Senior Seminar obviously impressed This is good news. I, too, think that said "Block" is a perfectly reasonable bit of management training. 2. Mr. Coffey clearly is anxious to put something together for Mr. Colby as quickly as possible. I assume that DD/S 72-2295 is primarily talking about training for senior officers inasmuch as we appear to be on the track with assorted "inserts" to IWA and Midcaree:r to be added to our existing Grids and FSM courses. 3. I urge you to consider offering the "Management Block" of the Senior Seminar to Mr. Coffey as the prototype for the senior management course that Mr. Colby desires. This will get us off the ground and give Messrs. Wattles, Coffey, and Colby something concrete (and in writing) to react to. Also, this step will constitute an immediate response, which seems to be vital at this point. Also, the "Block" has a reputation which should help "sell" it. 25X1A 4. No matter what sort of package we send forward, there will be revisions, additions, and deletions as time goes by and as various senior officers contribute to the formulation of the doctrine which a senior management course should offer. It seems sensible to start with a package that has already established itself and to press for- ward from that point rather than continue to spin our wheels trying to develop something from scratch. With your approval, we will discuss this proposal with and work up a detailed prospectus for forwarding to Mr. Coffey. 25X1A Chief, Support School, OTR Approved For.
