Herewith a few disjointed comments about the new CT program -- even though I was unable to attend during the first two weeks. One or more SIC staff members did attend all of the substantive lectures during Part I -- with the purpose in mind of building bridges from the universal to the somewhat more specific, from the domestic to the international scene. They found the external speakers -- for the most part -- highly stimulating. However, I find the staff concerned -- as I an -- that this meal being set before the CTs has commenced with dessert (Cherries Jubilee perhaps;) to be followed by an entree which may be looked upon as corned beef hash: The chefs who are preparing elements of the entree are experimenting with new recipes about which they are now somewhat concerned since the dessert chef has begun with the piece de resistance. I suspect that there are a number of rather profound pedagogical lessons to be learned from the way in which we have shaped this particular program -- in terms of developing staff competence and teamwork, and particularly in terms of the way in which the students will react and evaluate. I'm looking forward to some lively discussion concerning the results of these five weeks in terms of the ultimate configuration of the one basic program towards which we are now airing. 2. has been attending the series of lectures at the National War College covering the Soviet Union. This provides SIC with an excellent opportunity for maintaining currency on the viewpoints of leading academicians. The facts concerning international developments we can easily accumulate -- the interpretations seem harder to come by and the NWC series is most helpful. 3. External presentations: 13 Jan -- International Police Academy -- General Course -- "Targets".
