It will be composed of 12 internal candidates (six from RID, two from NPIC, one each from OER, OSR, OS and OTR) and 15 external can- One female trainee I I, one rand total of 27 tes for a did . g a black trainee and one trainee of Philippine ancestry are included in the group. Because of clearance complications one external could not be offered employment until 2 July; consequently, his EOD will be delayed two days since he must drive from the West Coast. Another external, because of a minor personal problem cleared with us well in advance, will be unable to EOD until 12 July. 2. The second of two interim on-the-job assignments for the January 1971 CT class will commence 12 July. Because of the greatly reduced (from 13 to 5 weeks) initial training available to Career Trainees, the July 1971 class will commence its first interim assignment about mid- August. This means that for the first time we will have two CT classes participating simultaneously in on-the-job training. We do not expect this overlap to cause any particular problems. 3. Program Officer I this week completed an extended tour of three and one-half years with the CTP. Gus is a keen judge of young talent and his sage observations and pithy comments will be missed by the remainder of the staff. He has been assigned to the Office of Per- sonnel. 4.
