I am happy to report that the Board of Trustees of the National Institute of Public Affairs has granted Career Education Awards for the academic year 1967-68 to the nominees from your agency indicated below. The following persons are Award winners with tuition provided by the Federal government who will receive a $1,000 cash prize from NIPA to assist with educational expenses which government agencies are not authorized to pay or do not normally pay. They have been assigned to the universities indicated. The following is an Award winner with tuition provided by the Federal government who will not receive a special stipend from the NIPA. Those persons receiving the $1,000 cash prize will receive a check by approximately July 15th. Use of these funds is not restricted and no accounting is required, but they must be returned by any person who does not enroll at the university for the full academic year. Each Award is also contingent upon the continuation of the recipient's salary during the academic year and a contribution by the agency to the travel and moving expenses he and his family will incur in going to the university and returning to his place of employment. We are planning an orientation meeting for all Award winners at Williamsburg, Virginia, from May 7-10. Public announcement of the Awards will be made about April 15. We are grateful to you for the cooperation you have given the Career Education Awards Program.
