1. I am pleased to inform you that the Director of Central
Intelligence has approved the following Clandestine Services candi-
dates for attendance at the indicated schools and colleges below:

2. It is a distinct honor to be selected from among employees
throughout the Agency, and as Chairman of the Training Selection
Board, I wish to convey my congratulations to these gent lemen when
you notify them of their selection.
3. Being a good representative of the Agency is an important
aspect of attendance at these senior schools, and it is my recommen-
dation that if the individuals have not already been enrolled in either
the Clandestine S:rvices Rview or the Intelligence Review course
that they make every effort to do so prior to their attendance at
these schools.
4. 1 expect the Office of Training to present a short training
course next summer that will be specifically designed for these selec-
tees. Further details will be forthcoming when plans for this course
are firm. A member of the Registrar's Staff, Office of Training will

take care of all administrative details necessary.
5. The members of the Board found it extremely difficult to
recommend to the Director of Central Intelligence only a few from
the many highly qualified nominees, and I want to emphasise that
nonselection reflects in no way adversely on the ability of the appli-
