1. There are two types of approvals required here,
.e., one for disposal and the other for purchase. The
Director of Logistics has the disposal authority, but
technically even a small urcha 'ke this requires the
Deputy Director for u port s approval (see Memo to the
Executive Director-Comptroller dated 13 May 1970 from the
Deputy Director for Support on this subject). That is what
Africa Divisio ris referring to in the "Comments" column of
the Routing an6 Record Sheet.
2. However, in view of the extraordinarily low amount
of $1,200 involved here, it is suggested that the Director
of Logistics approve both disposal and purchase. (You will
note that in the purchase of the origin in
1965 - see January 1965 cable answer to ched,
at a similar cost,approval to purchase was given by the
Deputy Director of Logistics.) It would appea ina rop-
riate to send this ro osal, which inv 1 ce the
exchange of one for her, to the Deputy
Direc uppor s are considerably less
than an average leasehold.
