This document contains classified information affecting the national security of the United States within the
meaning of the espionage laws U. S. Code Title 18, Sections 793 and 794. The law prohibits its transmission

CONSTRUCTION TIMING OF SOVIET DEPLOYED MRBM LAUNCH SITES
This report presents information, in chart form, on the construction
timing of deployed Soviet MRBM launch sites as determined from KEYHOLE 25X1 D
photography.
No deployed Soviet MRBM launch sites have been identified
on TALENT or earlier photo coverage.
The first MRBM launch sites were observed on KEYHOLE photography
o in the Soviet Far East. In the subsequent
20 months, a total of 132 MRBM launch sites (528 pads) have been identified
including 3 possible, 3 probable, and 126 confirmed sites.
The estimated time necessary to complete the physical layout of a
MRBM launch site, including the road network, ready buildings, launch pads,
and support/housing facilities, is 6 months. This estimate is based on an
average of the construction periods of 20 selected MRBM launch sites as
determined from photography (see chart). The estimated status of MRBM
sites is based only on the stage of construction of launch pads, ready build-
ings, road network, and support/housing facilities and does not refer to the
operational status of the site.

in the TDI and received at NPIC a
