identified as probable, is located 3.1 nautical
miles southeast of Moscow SA-1 SAM site
E 30, at 56-00-15N 36-26-05E. 1/ It is in
the northwest quadrant and near the outer circle
of the Moscow SA-1 SAM defense ring, near
six confirmed SA-3 sites (figure 1).
This C-type site (Figure 2) 2/ is the first
to be identified as having a training function.
It is situated in a secured installation measur-
ing approximately 1,400 by 1,300 feet (Figure
3), and there are nine large buildings, several
smaller buildings, cleared areas, and hardstands
adequate for vehicle parks. In the southwest
area. there are additional possible buildings
which cannot be further identified because of
the small scale of the photography.
The large buildings are barracks type and
could also house classrooms. Smaller build-
ings probably serve as machine shops, vehicle
sheds, and maintenance facilities.
Within the main compound is another pos-
sibly secured area containing the launch site.
Adjacent launch pads are approximately 280
feet apart, and the diameter, from pad to cross-
pad, is approximately 400 feet. This is some-
what smaller than other sites of the C type.
Three launch positions can be identified, two
of which are revetted, and an unidentified object,
possibly a launcher, is visible in each of these
launch positions. The fourth launch position
