MILITARY INSTALLATIONS, KECSKEMET, HUNGARY
This report is a partial answer to DIA
requirement DIAXX 63-84, to verify the lo-
cation of selected military installations in
Hungary, and to perform a photo analysis of
these installations to determine function, number
and dimensions of buildings, to estimate troop
capacity, to identify and describe related train-
ing areas and facilities and to confirm or
negate ammunition and POL storage. This
report covers selected military installations
in the Kecskemet area. The installations are
keyed to Figure 1. 25X1 D 25X1 D
TALENT photography of-was used
to determine dimensions and functions of build-
ings. KEYHOLE photography o
was used only to confirm the existence of the
military installations and major buildings --
poor photo quality precluded a detailed analysis.
The total troop capacity of the installations
in Kecskemet covered by this report is 19,248
based on a total of 962,475 square feet of floor
space.*
A. Kecskemet Ammunition Dump Kadafalva
Coordinates: 46-53-08N 019-36-55E

This double-secured munitions and am-
munition storage area, located 4.2 miles west-
southwest of Kecskemet, covers approximately
21 acres and contains:
9 storage buildings ranging from 65 by 45
to 15 by 15 feet, a total of 17,925 square
feet
5 revetted storage buildings ranging from

20 by 20 to 15 by 15 feet, a total of 1,350
square feet
1 support building 35 by 35 feet.
B. Training Area

This training area surrounding Kecskemet
Ammunition Dump Kadafalva (A) covers approxi-
mately 743 acres and contains:
1 support building 50 by 45 feet
2 firing ranges, one 1,330 by 90 feet,
and the other 980 by 200 feet
1 field-firing range 1,100 by 400 feet
numerous trenches, foxholes and automatic
weapons emplacements
no observed POL storage.
C. Kecskemet Army Barracks Southwest

This partially secured military installation,
located 2.7 miles southwest of Kecskemet,
covers approximately 151 acres and contains:
3 two-story barracks buildings, one 185
by 30, one 160 by 35, and the other 130
by 30 feet
4 five-story barracks buildings 165 by 50
feet, each with a four-story wing 165
by 50 feet
2 five-story barracks buildings 160 by 50
feet
2 four-story barracks buildings 135 by 50

contains trenches, foxholes, and artillery
emplacements.

approximately 29 acres and contains:
3 three-story barracks buildings, each 175
by 45 feet
4 two-story barracks buildings, 160 by 55,
105 by 45, 85 by 55, and 65 by 45 feet,

building, the main section 95 by 50 feet,
with two wings 70 by 35 feet, and one

G-1. Training Area
A training area covering approximately 195
acres extends east, north, and west of the in-
stallation. The training area contains trenches,
foxholes, bunkers and aircraft mockups. In-
cluded in the training area (west of the instal-
lation) is a possible electronics facility with
several types of antennas, three support
buildings ranging from 100 by 55 to 70 by 30
feet, and several reservoirs, possibly for cool-
ing large transmitters.
