This training area (Rovno Maneuver Area
Tuchin, BE No- (Figure 1) covers
approximately 40,920 acres and is located 14.3
miles (23 kilometers) northwest of Rovno at
50-45N 026-30E.
The area contains one 3,710- by 1,060-foot
tracked-vehicle driver training course, three
combat training areas with trench systems and
possible weapons emplacements, one small lake
(possibly used for water-crossing exercises or
engineer training), one 218-acre bivouac area,
an unidentified training facility consisting of 13
parallel ground scars 3,500 feet long with addi-
tional ground scars extending from the ends of
these parallel scars and converging on a single
building at each end of the facility, and six mov-
ing target tank firing ranges as shown in the
tabulation.

and two probable AAA sites.
revealed no significant change in the extent of
the training area. Usage appeared approxi-
mately the same during this period.
No impact areas, airborne or air trans-
portability training facilities were observed in
the area. The area has good rail and road
access, but no rail loading ramps were observed.
