REEVALUATION OF SELECTED ELECTRONIC SITES, CUBA
This report is a reevaluation of three
high-density electronic areas in Cuba which
have previously been covered in detail in
NPIC/R-61/64, January 1964. 1/ The results
of the present study, based on photography of
show that two of
these areas, the Havana and the Limonar
field communications centers, once the two

Photography of I shows that
this center has been removed in its entirety.
A detailed description of its arrangement and
components as of 0 is given on pages
20 and 21 of NPIC/R-61/64.
Havana Communications Center
and Torrens Area
The Havana Communications Center, also
known as Torrens Site No 3, was one of six
field communications facilities in the Torrens
area. The specific locations, arrangements,
and components of these sites as of
largest in Cuba, have now been dismantled.
On the other hand, the third site, Bejucal, has
more than tripled in size, leading to the pos-
sibility of a command regrouping with head-
quarters located at this site.
In addition, the Torrens and Santiago de
las Vegas areas were examined for possible
new electronic activity and none was found.
completely removed. Sites No 1 and 3A, how-
ever, remain essentially unchanged.
Bejucal Field Communications Center
When listed on page 4 of NPIC/R-61/64 as
a probable SIGINT -- FIX EIGHT site, it was
pointed out that this facility could possibly be a
field communications site, instead. Since then,
sufficient numbers of electronic vans have been
added so that the site can now be classed defi-
nitely as a field communications center.
Photography

shows that this site now includes
one canvas-covered and 23 visible electronic
and communications vans widely dispersed over
the top of a conspicuous 525-foot hill, with
an additional 17 electronic vans held in re-
serve (Figure 1). Also, approximately 47
large tents on rectangular frames have been
scattered among the various administration
and support facilities previously described in.
NPIC/R-61/64. A sufficient number of masts
are described in detail on pages 19 and
20 of NPIC/R-61/64.
Photography
shows that the Havana center
has been removed in its entirety and that its
antenna field is now occupied by an AAA bat-
tery. The same photography discloses that

can be seen to determine that high-frequency-
type antennas are being utilized, but the exact
number or type cannot be determined because
of the scale of the available photography. How-
ever, the present arrangement of components
approximates that which formerly existed at
the Havana Communications Center.

This entire area was reexamined and no
previously unreported electronic facilities were
found. However, the Bejucal Field Communi-
cations Center is only 3.2 nautical miles to
the south, which may account for indications
of activity in this area.
