April 1964. 1/
Launch Area B (56-24N 92-27E) consists
of a completed Type III) launch site and a site
support facility (Figure 1). It is located 20.4
nm northeast of the complex support facility
in a wooded area.
This launch site was first identifiedin=
as a Type IIC launch site.
earth scarring
appeared at the launch site which was not
evident in
it was
determined that the earth scarring was for the
canted and center buildings of a Type IlDlaunch
site configuration. A detailed analysis revealed
that the Type IIC launch site had been abandoned
and the Type IID launch site had been superim-
posed over the original launch site.
In I I the Type
III) launch site had progressed to a late stage
of construction and was considered complete
Orientation
of the pads is on an azimuth of 5 degrees, plus
or minus 5 degrees. One missile-ready building
is present and is 600 feet behind the right pad.
It is earth-banked and canted outward about
10 degrees. The 4 canted buildings and at
least 3 of the 4 center buildings are earth
mounded. An image visible on each pad is
probably the erector/shelter. Two other build-
ings are discernible within the launch site.
Security fencing is not apparent.
Three buildings
of the access road.
The site support facility is 0.7 nm west of
the launch site. It consists of an administra-
tion and housing section and a housing section.
The administration and housing section contains
48 buildings, 29 of which are barracks-type
buildings. The housing section contains 7.build-
ings, including 2 barracks-type buildings.
A power trace extends to the site support
facility from the southwest.
