Bykhov MRBM Launch Area No 1 (Figure 1)
is situated on the eastern bank of the Dnepr
River, about 7 nautical miles (nm) north of the
town of Sledyuki and 11 nm north-northeast of
Bykhov. The launch area is not associated
with another MRBM launch area; the nearest
is Gomel MRBM Launch Area No 2, located
approximately 90 nm to the south-southeast.

a period of II portions of the missile-
ready buildings and associated road network
were observed through clouds on photography
launch area, but the poor quality of the photog-
raphy precluded the determination of its con-
struction status. Photography of

area as being complete.
The launch area possibly utilizes a rail
siding at a peat-processing plant located 4 nm
to the south. The typical road pattern of an
MRBM rail-to-road transfer point, consisting
of a road parallel to a siding with a turnaround
loop at one end, is present. Also, several

warehouse-type buildings are discernible along
the siding. An improved road from the launch
area connects with a highway leading south
from Mogilev to the processing plant.
"I he launch area (Figure 2) is located in
a forest at 53-41-30N 30-20-30E. It contains
four poorly defined launch pads 425 feet apart
arranged on an offset inline road pattern. The
inline roads serving each of the four pads
are oriented due north. Four missile-ready
buildings, three of which are located directly
behind pads and the fourth on a loop road
east of the pads, measure 190 by 65 feet. A
smaller building 115 by 40 is situated behind
one of the inner pads. A similar arrangement
of the four ready buildings with a smaller

building behind one of the inner pads is noted
at each of eight other singly deployed launch
areas in the USSR. Each of these launch
areas does not have an associated site support
facility.
Three small buildings appear to be grouped
about each of the four launch pads and probable
scars connect some of the buildings to the pads.
No site support facility
discernible in the launch area; how-
ever, clouds obscure a portion of the sur-
rounding area.
