This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and logistic
installations being prepared. for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Kalinkovichi Army Barracks is located
(Figure 1) 17 kilometers (km) southwest of
Kalinkovichi and 4 km west-southwest of Mozyr
(52-03N 029-15E), adjacent to and on the east
side of the Ovruch-Kalinkovichi rail line. The
installation is served by a rail spur and has
all-weather road connections to the Moyzr-
Kalinkovichi highway.
This installation (Figures 2 and 3) covers
approximately 570 acres and includes one ad-
ministration building, seven multistory bar-
racks, 29 storage buildings, three vehicle sheds,
three vehicle maintenance buildings and 43 sup-
port buildings.
The installation also includes a secured
ammunition storage area with five unrevetted
buildings and a secured probable communi-
cations site containing a tower and two support
buildings. Training facilities include a wheeled-
vehicle driver training area and a small arms
firing range.

Comparative analysis reveals no
significant change in the level of usage during
this time. The significant changes first ob-
served on 0 coverage were the addition
of the rail spur and the erection of two large
storage buildings.
Railroad Service
A spur from the Ovruch-Kalinkovichi rail
line serves this installation.
An all-weather road provides access to the
Moyzr-Kalinkovichi highway.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains one H-shaped multistory
administration building, seven multistory bar-
racks, and 13 support buildings. Track activity
indicates the area has a moderate level of
activity during the summer months with lesser
activity during the winter.
General Storage Areas
Area El contains 11 storage buildings and
one support building.
Area E2, a secured storage area, contains
two storage buildings and two support buildings.
Area. E3 contains three storage buildings,
two of which were first observed in
Area E4 is secured and contains two storage
buildings and five support buildings.
Area E5, a secured storage area, contains
five storage buildings and four support buildings.
Ammunition Storage Area
Area F, a secured, isolated area, contains
five unrevetted ammunition storage buildings
with the following dimensions: two 120 by 60
feet; one 110 by 50 feet; one 100 by 50 feet;
and one 85 by 60 feet.
Other Buildings
Area H, a secured probable communications
area, contains two support buildings and a tower.
Eleven other support buildings are scattered
throughout the installation.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1, a secured area, contains one 275-
by 70-foot vehicle shed, one 260- by 70-foot
vehicle shed, two 130- by 70-foot vehicle main-
tenance buildings, one storage building located

Area J2 contains one 260- by 70-foot ve-
hicle shed, one 250- by 90-foot vehicle main-
tenance building, five storage buildings, and six
support buildings.
Area K is a parade ground.
Small Arms Firing Range
Area I. is an 800- by 100-foot small arms
firing range.
Driver Training Area
Area M is a wheeled-vehicle driver train-
ing area consisting of one irregular driver-
training course and one closed circuit figure
