Laun:h Area I (57-57N 41-14K) consists
of a completed Type ILIA launch site, a site sup-
port facility, and a receiving, inspection, and
maintenance (RIM) facility under construction
(Figure 1). The area is in a wooded location
12.8 nautical miles (nm) northeast of the
lex support facility. It was first seen
and can be negated on

Construction was considered complete
The launch site is situated in a clearing
and is enclosed by a double security fence.
A loop road encloses three silos and the con-
trol bunker. A short access road serves the
left side of each silo and the silo covers slide
to the right to open
position. The control bunker is sharply out-
lined and does not appear to be earth covered
as yet. Two rectangular buildings are adjacent

to the outside of the loop road on the north and
west sides. A possible spray pond is present to
the left rear of the control bunker. A probable
security building is near the entrance to the
site.
The site support facility is divided into three
groups of buildings. Two of these groups are on
opposite sides of the access road about 2,000
feet northeast of the launch site and constitute
an administration/housing section. Ten bar-
racks-type and ten other buildings are in this
section. The third group, a housing section, is
approximately 3,500 feet northeast of the launch
site and includes 16 barracks-type and various
other buildings. The RIM facility is situated
along an I,-shaped road which extends south and
east from the access road, approximately 3,000
feet northeast of the launch site.
