PETROPAVLOVSK NAVAL MINING AND TORPEDO DEPOT KOSA,, USSR
A triple-fenced storage area is located be-
tween the pier area and the storage and support
areas at the Petropavlovsk Naval Mini and
Totpedo Depot Kosa lat
52-54N 158-33E. The location at Mys (Cape)
Kosa is 3 nautical miles (nm) east of Petro-
pavlovsk Naval Base Tarya Bay

pavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, USSR (Figures 1 and 2).
The triple-fenced storage area is situated
on a hillside adjoining the main road and con-
tains a long, narrow storage building adjacent
to a cliff (Figure 3). The storage building, ap-
proximately 225 by 30 feet, is accessible through
a single entrance located at the north end. The
building has a gable roof on which one ventilator
is discernible and a second ventilator is indicated
by the pattern of melted snow. 11 perspective of

and widens into an apron within the triple-fenced
area. Two support buildings are within the outer-
most fence, and a gatehouse is situated at the
junction of the main road and the access road to

at Mys Kosa include: a pier area; a double-
secured munitions storage area containing eight
dispersed munitions storage buildings; a double -

secured area with munitions stored in the open;
an unsecured storage area with three dispersed
storage buildings; and an unsecured support
area. The main road extends from the pier
area past the munitions depot and terminates
at an SA-2 site.
This munitions depot supports I'etropav--
lovsk Naval Base "Tarya Bay, which is the
principal submarine base for the Soviet Pacific
Fleet. Since the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy
area is 1,200 nm from the fleet headquarters
at Vladivostok and is accessible only by air and
