The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center. 1P1c (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the Production Center 1P1c. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. The installation is served by several hard-surface roads and has convenient access to the rail line serving Chernovtsy. The military installation (Figures 2 and 3) can house approximately 3,000troops. Build- ings within the installation include five probable multistory barracks buildings, one probable multistory barracks /administrative building, four probable vehicle maintenance buildings, six probable storage buildings, 10 probable sup- port buildings, and one multistory probable hospital. TCS-7614/64 NPIC/R-752/64 East of the military installation is the city park with facilities for recreation. The nearest training and maneuver area is approximately 28 kilometers (km) southwest of the installation, near Storozhinets. 25X1 D The military installation was covered by - TALENT photography. KEYHOLE missions 25X1 D between were used to study the installation for significant changes. In some instances, poor quality and shadow precluded accurate building counts within the installation, but no significant changes were observed. Railroad Service The city of Chernovtsy is served by the northwest- southeast Chernovtsy-Kolomyya railroad. Within Chernovtsy is one marshaling yard. No repair facilities were noted. Road Service There are several hard surface roads in and around Chernovtsy. Aircraft Landing Strips Two airfields are near Chernovtsy. A sod landing field with a landing area 6,200 by 2,900 feet is 2 km southeast of the city. Chernovtsy Northwest Airfield with a 6,600- by 200-foot concrete runway is 16 km northwest of the city. Administrative and Troop Housing Area Area D contains five multistory probable barracks with a troop capacity of approximate- ly 3,000, one multistory probable barracks/ administration building, four 200- by 60-foot probable vehicle maintenance buildings, six probable storage buildings, 10 probable sup- port buildings, and one multistory probable hospital.
